The Fleur de Lis Corporation and Board of Directors
Fleur de Lis Camp, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization. We were incorporated in 1929. Fleur de Lis is run by a Corporation of 30 members and a Board of Directors of seven. The Board of Directors is an active body which makes all major organizational decisions and provides support and direction to the Director. The seven Board members have either attended Fleur de Lis themselves or have been closely associated with camp for many years. Board members receive no remuneration.
Our Director
Lexy Heatley is the director of Fleur de Lis Camp. She has been a part of the Fleur de Lis community for over 25 years. In the 70’s she began her time at FdL as a camper, participated in the Counselor-in-Training program and then became a member of the field staff. Later, on the administrative staff she held many roles including Program Director, Counselor-in-Training Director, Staff Director, and Associate Director. She currently serves on the Fleur de Lis Corporation and was a member of the Capital Campaign Committee. Active in the American Camp Association, Lexy has been a volunteer visitor for five years participating in the camp accreditation process.
Lexy is a certified elementary teacher and special educator with a masters degree from Boston College in the study of Learning Disabilities. She has worked in the New Hampshire public schools and for the last 13 years and has worked at the Dexter and Southfield Schools in Brookline, MA. Her responsibilities there covered the spectrum from learning specialist, elementary teacher, Latin teacher, field hockey coach, bus driver, and most recently Assistant to the Head of the Middle School.
She has spent her career dedicated to creating quality learning experiences for children. Excited to return to FdL as its director, Lexy believes that Fleur de Lis offers it's girls an experience of incomparable summer adventures. In the winter, Lexy lives in Hancock, NH with her husband Neal and her 2 stepchildren Josh (age 10) and Rachel (age 6).
Our Administrative Staff
Our administrative staff is made up of professionals in the fields of education and social work. Most of them were campers and/or counselors at Fleur de Lis. They work with all of the campers, staff and counselors-in-training to ensure the best summer experience for everyone.
While the administrative staff at many camps focus almost exclusively on administrative responsibilities, our admin. team are an active part of the daily program- teaching classes, leading activities and spending time with all campers. This interaction is a priority at Fleur de Lis.
Our Field Staff
We are very proud of our staff at Fleur de Lis. These counselors are the women who campers look up to, emulate and turn to for support and nurturing. They are well trained both in their roles as counselors and as experts in the activities they teach. The average age of our field staff is 20. Most of them were campers at Fleur de Lis and have completed our 2-year Counselor-In-Training program. Each year about 20% of our staff come to us from other countries including England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The remainder of our staff come from throughout the United States.
Our Nurses
Fleur de Lis has a Registered Nurse in residence all summer and a doctor on call at all times.
