Twas the night before summer camp
In the spirit of the season, I would like to share an excerpt from my favorite holiday tradition, with a camp twist-
Twas the day before summer camp and all through the fields
Staff were stirring, their efforts would not yield
“We will be ready!” they cried
With WOGS to be cleaned, beds to be moved and tent flaps to be tied.
Tomorrow, campers are arriving, all lively and quick,
We know at this moment, some may get a bit homesick
So prepared, we will be with hugs and songs to be sung
Don’t worry if you don’t know the words, soon they will slip off your tongue.
We simply can’t wait for their excited faces to appear,
That they won’t have enough time for all the fun is our only fear.
Because they will be so happy that they came,
We know because we felt exactly the same.
As the stars start to rise in the sky,
We fall asleep with dreams of welcome hugs and screams of “Hi!”
I mean, where else are lifelong friends created at first sight
So until next summer, Merry Christmas to all and to all, a good night!
